COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course covers family violence dynamics, how offenders (abusers) operate, how their techniques are amplified when the abuser is a cop, and what officers and agencies can do to address this issue. Upon completion of this course participants will know the obstacles family violence victims have when trying to leave an abusive relationship, and how those obstacles become even greater when the abuser is a cop. Peace officers will know the important legal and moral role they play in protecting victims of all family violence.
