The assistant can answer "what does the law say" questions from your training provider's legal library — the Texas Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, Transportation, Family, Health and Safety, Government and Occupations Codes, and TCOLE's rules — when your provider has loaded it.
What a good answer looks like
- It quotes or closely paraphrases the section and names it, for example Tex. Penal Code §9.51, with a link to the official statute page.
- It says how current the text is ("current as of" the date the source was last checked). Laws change after each legislative session.
- When the library has nothing solid on your question, it says so instead of guessing.
Ask specifically. "When can I arrest without a warrant for family violence" gets a better answer than "arrest law".
This is a training reference, not legal advice. Your agency's policy and legal counsel control what you do on the job. Policy can be stricter than statute, never looser — if the assistant cites both, note which is which.
